San Diego arrives to the match after a home loss to Pachuca, while Tigres had secured a win in their previous game.With the new format, where only the top four teams from both the American and Mexican tables qualify, San Diego faced a must-win scenario to keep their hopes alive.

Tigres UANL asserted their dominance with a 2 to 1 win over San Diego FC in the second group stage match. The standout performance came from Ángel Correa, who scored twice in the 31st and 67th minutes and earned Player of the Match honors. This marked his second consecutive brace in the tournament, a strong debut run for the World Cup champion.

San Diego briefly shifted the momentum with a goal from T. Ángel in the 55th minute, sparking hopes among the local crowd. The celebration did not last long, as Correa responded decisively and restored the lead for Tigres with a clinical finish.

The victory places Tigres in a strong position to advance to the next round. San Diego FC, now officially eliminated, will close out their group stage campaign against Mazatlán on Tuesday.
