Border teams San Diego Padres (MLB) and Toros de Tijuana (LMB) delivered a spectacular double performance by winning their games, showcasing quality, intensity, and two walk-off finishes on the same day.
In the final game of their series against the Philadelphia Phillies, the San Diego Padres clinched the win thanks to a walk-off hit from Luis Arráez in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Nick Pivetta picked up the win for the Padres after five solid innings on the mound.
Despite losing a six-run lead, San Diego managed to hold off Philadelphia’s comeback and claim the game with a final score of 6–7.
Luis Arráez, the hero of the night, continues to stand out in the lineup.
Meanwhile, in Monclova, the Toros de Tijuana were also fighting until the last inning.
A walk-off home run from Juan Mora handed the win to the Acereros, and the final score was 5–4.
Matt Solter, who debuted for the Toros, delivered five innings of one-run baseball but did not get the win.
With this result, the Toros drop to fifth place in the North Division.
Monclova takes over third place and looks to keep climbing.
Two border teams, two high-drama endings. Could this be a turning point for the Padres and Toros? Or are the Acereros just getting started?
