Club Tijuana suffered a 2-1 defeat against Santos Laguna in a clash between two teams near the bottom of the standings (15th vs 18th). Played at Estadio Caliente, Xolos started with urgency and intensity, driven by the need to secure points and boosted by returning players.

Tijuana consistently looked to create danger through crosses into the box, taking advantage of Doya’s return, while Santos relied on strong defensive efforts, including multiple goal-line clearances to keep the match level. The home side eventually broke through, making it 1-0 and confirming the well-known “law of the ex.” However, the match shifted dramatically when Jackson Porozo was sent off in the 59th minute after a heavy challenge, leaving Tijuana with ten men.

Santos capitalized on the numerical advantage and found the equalizer in the 53rd minute through Ezequiel Bulluade. Later, substitute Jesús Gómez made it 1-1 in the 72nd minute with a well-placed cross-shot that reignited the match. Just when it seemed the game would end in a draw, Jesús Ocejó scored in stoppage time (90’+10) to complete the comeback and secure a 2-1 victory for Santos.

With this result, Santos Laguna earns a crucial win and gains momentum in the standings, while Tijuana is left with frustration after controlling parts of the match but being heavily impacted by the red card. Xolos will need to make adjustments if they hope to climb out of the lower positions in the coming weeks.
