In front of 58 592 fans at Nissan Stadium, the Los Angeles Chargers overcame an early deficit to defeat the Tennessee Titans 27‑20. After trailing 14‑7 in the first quarter, the visitors rallied to secure their sixth win of the season, improving to 6‑3 and staying near the top of the AFC West, while the Titans slipped to 1‑8.
The game began with fireworks from the home team: Cody Barton returned a Justin Herbert interception 24 yards for a touchdown, and Chimere Dike added a 67‑yard punt return to give Tennessee a 14‑7 lead. Despite losing two starting linemen and throwing that pick‑six, Herbert responded with poise. He threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns, led a 99‑yard drive that ended with his own 1‑yard rushing score, and added 57 yards on the ground. Los Angeles outgained Tennessee 343‑206 and turned a slim 20‑17 advantage into a two-score cushion with Herbert’s quarterback sneak late in the game.
Herbert was the undisputed star, connecting with CeeDee Lamb and Keenan Allen for touchdown passes and then capping the 99‑yard march with his short run. Tennessee’s defense had bright spots, such as 2.5 sacks by Jihad Ward, but the offense faltered once the Chargers adjusted. Interim coach Mike McCoy lamented the missed opportunity when the Titans were stopped at the 1‑yard line: “We had an opportunity down there. We don’t get it. They do”.
With the victory, the Chargers strengthen their playoff hopes and will host the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 9. The Titans now face a bye week to regroup before welcoming the Houston Texans on November 16. For Tennessee, the challenge will be fixing mistakes and finding positives as a difficult season continues.
