It was finally Xolas’ home debut after playing their first two matches of the Apertura 2025 on the road, earning a draw against León and suffering a loss to América. The team is still not at full strength: some players are currently competing in the African Cup, and their new Turkish forward is not yet physically ready to join the starting lineup.

Under these circumstances, Club Tijuana Femenil hosted Toluca at Estadio Caliente. The home side started with intensity, pressing high and trying to cause damage from the opening minutes. Early on, they were involved in a controversial play inside the box where players appealed for a penalty, but the referee waved it off. Toluca made the most of their first clear chance when Eugénie Le Sommer found the back of the net in the 31st minute with a precise strike past Renatta Cota. The first half ended with a narrow lead for the visitors.

In the second half, the Diablas continued pushing forward, and once again Le Sommer capitalized, scoring her second goal in the 51st minute after another defensive lapse. Despite the setback, Xolas kept fighting and found hope in the 60th minute with a stunning goal from Danielle Fuentes, who opened her account with the club and reignited the crowd's enthusiasm. However, when it seemed like the equalizer might come, Cassandra Cuevas sealed the result in the 87th minute, scoring Toluca’s third and final goal to make it 3–1.

After the match, French head coach Patrice Lair acknowledged that the squad is still in the process of adapting to the pace and style of Liga MX Femenil, but he expressed full confidence in his players. “We’re working hard to adapt. It’s an intense league, different, but with great potential for competition,” he noted. With his European experience and players like Amandine Henry and Eugénie Le Sommer, the coach emphasized that the “magic of Lyon” is starting to make its mark in Mexico. “With this foundation, we can be true title contenders,” he stated.

Xolos Femenil remains winless in the early part of the season. The next match will be key in their effort to shift momentum and get on the right track in the Apertura 2025.
