San Diego FC faced Real Salt Lake in a match defined by the similarity of both squads, constant crosses from both sides, and a late sequence that changed the outcome.

The match began with moments of tension, including a VAR-reviewed play and dangerous chances from both teams. Real Salt Lake opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a header following a precise cross. San Diego responded and found the equalizer in the 27th minute, when Marcus Ingvartsen capitalized on a play inside the box to level the match.

As the game progressed, it became more direct, with both teams relying on crosses and long balls. Before halftime, San Diego prevented a second goal with a goal-line clearance after a play involving Diego Luna, keeping the match open.

In the second half, a play that started from deep in their own half ended at the feet of Anders Dreyer, who beat his defender and finished to give the home side the lead. However, in the final minutes, Real Salt Lake found the equalizer in the 85th minute after a right-side cross led to a close-range finish. Shortly after, in the 89th minute, Christopher McVey was sent off after receiving a red card, leaving San Diego with ten players.

The final score was 2-2, in a match where San Diego let the win slip away in the closing moments.
