San Diego Wave FC started the game with a streak of 6 games with no defeats but faced a Reign team of which the local team has only won 1 out of the 11 matches faced between them, it was a Friday game this time where the atmosphere was amazing as usual.

San Diego created more chances and controlled possession in the first half, but while holding Seattle and their amazing effort to do high press almost all the game and they were kept at zero shots, but were unable to score any goals.

It's important to remember that the team just got back from the international break, the match was 0-0 until the 67th minute, when Sally Menti fired a long-range strike past San Diego goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan to put Seattle ahead. The play followed a controversial non-call after Perle Morroni went down under a hard tackle, but the referee allowed play to continue.

San Diego responded quickly. María Sánchez, who subbed in for Kimmi Ascanio in the 72nd minute, made an immediate impact. After winning a corner, Sánchez wanted to take the corner and requested to be her the one who will be taking it, delivered a near to the first post cross that Delphine Cascarino met with a powerful header to level the score at 1-1.

Minutes later Seattle found the match-winner in the 88th minute during a moment of transition. Emeri Adames linked up with Jess Fishlock in a quick one-two that broke open San Diego’s back line. With defender Kennedy Wesley off balance when trying to press, Adames powered a right-footed strike into the top corner for the final 2-1 scoreline.

Not the result anyone wanted, but as the coach Jonas E. said "We are thinking on the long run" there is more to come and this is just an example of what happens if you get most of your team away on the international break, next match is against Houston Dash on Friday, June 13.
