Toros de Tijuana began a new chapter in franchise history by opening Mobil Park with a home victory, after starting the season with two road series, both of which they won.
The atmosphere was electric even before the first pitch. During the opening ceremony, the team introduced its iconic mascots (Toro Torín, Torina, and Torón), along with the return of the beloved “Oso Quioso” and the Torobetas dancers, energizing the crowd.
The celebration continued with a performance by El Gran Silencio, who played some of their most popular songs, including “Déjenme que estoy llorando” and “Duerme Soñando.” After the concert, the stadium lit up with a fireworks and light show, followed by the traditional “Playball.”
On the field, Tijuana faced Acereros de Monclova in a matchup that also marked the debut of star signing Justin Turner, who started at first base and delivered a solid performance, recording one hit in four at-bats.
The game was decided by a narrow margin. Toros scored two runs, driven in by Junior Lake and Hernán Pérez, while Acereros managed just one.
The final result favored Toros de Tijuana, who celebrated with their fans the return of top-level baseball to the city, in a night that combined spectacle, tradition, and victory.
