The Estadio Caliente once again proved to be a difficult stage for Xolos Femenil, who failed to take advantage of their home ground and fell 2-1 to Atlético de San Luis in Matchday 7 of the Apertura 2025. With this result, the team now has just 2 points out of a possible 21.
The game opened in the 33rd minute with a goal from Rebeca Ivonne, who connected with a cross and headed home the first goal of the night in Tijuana. Just before halftime, Deisy Ojeda equalized from the penalty spot in stoppage time (45+1), setting up a second half full of tension. However, as the second half unfolded, the match turned into a scrappy battle, and in the 82nd minute Enyerliannys Higuera delivered the decisive strike that silenced the few fans in attendance and secured all three points for the visitors.
The defeat highlights the shortcomings of the border team, which by Matchday 7 still looks incomplete, especially with players suspended from previous incidents. While the penalty goal offered some relief, the team has yet to find its rhythm or a way to neutralize the visitors’ approach. San Luis, showing more order and patience, took home a valuable victory.
With this result, Tijuana sinks deeper into the lower end of the table, while San Luis climbs up the standings. The outlook for the Xolas is worrying, as Romo’s project does not seem to be delivering the expected results. The coming weeks will be decisive, though on the positive side, we saw the return of H. Magaia and A. Motau, who undoubtedly add much-needed value to the team.
